Eight AWESOME chefs, eight AWESOME tacos, one AWESOME day.
Taco Wars returns on Saturday 29 March 2014 at #HawkerHouse with an EPIC line-up of eight brilliant taco chefs and restaurants, 500 hungry taco fans and a tequila-soaked menu of frozen and festival-sized cocktails. Will you be there?
Here are your Taco Warriors for 2014:
On top of the eight competition tacos, your £35 ticket gets you an ice cold beer, a festival-sized pint of Blood Orange Margarita and a DELICIOUS ice cream taco from Sorbitium. Plus the nice folk at Chipotle are giving everyone a FREE BURRITO voucher again. Taco tasting starts at noon and ends at 5pm, when all votes are counted and the winner announced at 5.30pm.
Last year, Luardos’ Beer Battered Fresh King Prawn Taco (with Special Sauce, Fresh Red Chillies, Coriander, Sesame Cabbage and Mango Salsa) earned 25% of your votes. We’re expecting it to be a lot closer this year, with eight FANTASTIC entries inspired by all four corners of the globe. Expect versions influenced by London, Japan, Korea, Mexico and the Deep South. All of them will be AWESOME but only one will earn the title of Britain’s Best Taco 2014. Bragging rights aside, the winning team will take home £2,000 cash and their names engraved on The Cuervo Cup.
The Rotary Bar will be stocked with a great list of giant Jose Cuervo tequila cocktails, frozen Margaritas and shots, including last year’s KILLER INVENTION, the Chilliback. If you still haven’t tried one of these sweet, spicy, delicious shots then you really do need to sort your life out. We’ll be breathalysing everyone on the way out so please have at least two to avoid embarrassment.
Tickets for Taco Wars have now SOLD OUT but £3 evening tickets for the #HawkerHouse closing party (where you'll be able to sample some of the competition tacos), will be available on the door from 6pm.
